Acceptance of Risk

Everyone riding at Shredhill Bike park will be required to sign a waiver. This waiver is to acknowledge the inherent risks involved while mountain biking. When you arrive at the park you will be required to read and sign the following:

Acceptance of Risk

YOU ARE ABOUT TO TAKE PART IN A HIGH RISK ACTIVITY. YOU CAN MINIMISE THIS RISK BY FOLLOWING THE SAFETY RULES AND ADVICE IN THE SAFETY BRIEFING, MOUNTAIN BIKERS’ RESPONSIBILITY CODE AND THE MOUNTAIN BIKE AND EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST.

IF YOU DON’T FOLLOW THE SAFETY RULES AND ADVICE YOU INCREASE THE LIKELIHOOD OF A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WHICH COULD BE FATAL.

  • I understand that Mountain Biking is dangerous and includes substantial obstacles, which can be physically testing. I accept that there is a risk of injury and death when undertaking such activities.

  • I certify that to the best of my knowledge I do not have a medical condition which might make it more likely that I will be involved in an incident which could result in injury to myself or to others.

  • I agree to check my bike and equipment as per the Mountain Bike and Equipment Checklist at the start of the day, before each run and after any crash.

  • In the event of an accident, or loss or damage to my personal effects, I acknowledge that the company its employees, officers, officials or agents, its sponsors and any associated parties will not be liable for any direct or indirect loss, damage or injury arising from or in connection with the Activities (except for death or Personal Injury caused by the Company’s negligence).

  • The risk of injury from the activities involved at Shredhill Bike Park is significant, including the potential for permanent disability and death, and while following guidance, use of correct equipment and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist. All participants knowingly and freely assume such risks, both known and unknown, and assume full responsibility for their participation and for having and using the appropriate safety equipment. We do not accept any responsibility for other participant’s failure to comply with these rules other than due to our negligence.

  • Shredhill Bike Park reserves the right to refuse admission to any person on any grounds. Anyone who is visibly intoxicated or under the influence of drugs or alcohol shall not be permitted to participate and may be asked to leave the premises.

  • Any abusive, dangerous, rude or anti-social behaviour as well as riders caught riding without a valid ride pass will not be tolerated and may lead to the participant(s) being removed from the park, receiving a fine and/or a ban.

  • I give permission for medical assistance to be administered to both myself and any minors for whom I am completing this declaration in the case of an accident or in an emergency.

  • I agree that in case of a life-threatening injury where the ambulance response time is deemed too slow (by BPW First Responders or advice from the ambulance service via a 999 call) to being taken to A&E by Shredhill Bike Park staff.

  • Trails are graded according to ability, please ensure that you are competent to ride each trail. If in doubt, start on the easiest trails and work your way up.  Use the trail grading descriptions and trail difficulty index to find trails suitable for you.

  • Always perform a steady recce ride of any trails you intend to ride; trails change with weather conditions, erosion, and from continual trail amendments and improvements, do not assume they will always be exactly the same each time you visit.

  • Follow all instructions from staff at all times.

  • Children aged 15 and under need to be supervised by a parent or guardian over 18 years of age or by an accompanying adult over 25 years of age at ALL times.

  • All riders under 18 years of age must be signed in on site by a legal parent or guardian.

  • Read and adhere to all advice signs while using the trails.

  • It is your responsibility to ensure your equipment is fit for purpose.
